ASIS International is a nonprofit organization founded in 1955 to represent the interests of the security profession. Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, ASIS supports security professionals on an international scale and provides a broad set of services that range from advocacy to educational and certification programs.

Certifications have been administered by ASIS since 1977. They include the Certified Protection Professional (CPP), the Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), and the Physical Security Professional (PSP). Each certification is internationally accredited. The CPP certification represents board certification in security management, while the PCI represents board certification in investigations.
